When can wood floors not be refinished?

Wood floors can only be refinished if the wood is thick enough and has sustained water damage. The age of the floor also needs to be taken into consideration, as older floors may have a wear layer that is too thin after many years of refinishing. In addition, some manufacturers may use a finish that cannot be removed and refinished.

Additionally, if the wood is damaged beyond repair, refinishing may not be possible.
